UNSIGNED HUNGRY ARTIST SWAGG METER U CANT EVEN FIND IT. FUN MUSIC FUN PERSONALITY, ALL ABOUT ENTERTAINMENT. MYSPACE.COM/CUNTRY419 Leonard "Cuntry" Thornton was born in the rural southern town of Cleveland, Mississippi. Music was a part of his life early on explains Cuntry. "In Mississippi, no matter how many kids was around the background, music stayed the same. Grown Folks Music." In June of 1998, Cuntry moved north to his current residence of Toledo, Ohio. Cuntry admits that, "Even though I never was really serious about music, it just kind of sprung on me." Since moving to Ohio, Cuntry's list of artists he has opened for reads like a "who's who" of the industry including Boyz II Men, Envouge, Lil' Wayne, Slim Thugg, Juvenile, Gucci Mane, Ray Cash. Lyfe Jennings, Young Dro, Hot stylz and Bone Crusher. Also known as "The Master of Ceremony," Cuntry has no problem getting the party into full swing, having hosted numerous events and parties at venues that include The Blueprint, Club Prestige, Vamps, The Bijou, Shadow Lounge, and other surrounding area clubs. "When Cuntry has a mic in his hand the club goes from a party to show," explains local powerhouse DJ, DJ Lyte-n-Rod. Among the parties hosted by Cuntry are events for Ray Lavender as well as Young Dro and an event co-hosted with BET's host Toccara. Cuntry has also had the experience of working on collaborations with Ray Lavender and Jay Rush. Even though Cuntry feels right at home on center stage with a mic in his hand, he is also no stranger to the dance floor. Having invented the popular dance "Da Swagga" in 2004, Cuntry really knows how to get people moving. Some of Cuntry's other dance floor contributions are "Da Walk," "Da Circle," and the dance that currently has every dance floor in area filled, the "Ballroom." Even Ray Lavender had to get in on the action saying "[Cuntry] is Hot! I gotta learn the Ballroom before I leave Toledo!" When he's not hosting parties or inventing new dance crazes, Cuntry focuses on his music. "I'm always doing something, I'm never bored," says Cuntry. It was also in 2004 that Cuntry started a group and named it "Da Swagga Boyz," after the popular dance. The group, made up of members Mally Speaks, Pretty Boy Red and Chief, signed to Soul Chemistry Projects, a label headed by Shawn Stockman of the multi-platinum group Boyz II Men. In mid 2008, Cuntry was nominated in four categories of the 2008 Ohio Hip-Hop Awards. The categories in which he was nominated were "Single of the Year," "Best Show Performance," "People's Viewers Choice," and "Best Show Host," taking home the award in the category of "Best Show Host." Cuntry also received the honor of performing at the award show and won the Ohio Hip-Hop Award's Toledo Showcase. Currently, Cuntry can be heard as a radio personality on WJUC The Juice 107.3 FM in Toledo, Ohio. With so much momentum behind him and no signs of slowing down, Cuntry has only one direction to go and that's up!
