In 2009, Constance launched her singing career to new heights when she opened for Erika Badu and captured the hearts of Houstonians with her enchanting performance of “My Funny Valentine.” Her entrance to the world stage promises an electrifying performance of sultry, pulsating, and fresh-yet-familiar sounds. From a young age, this Texas born, Houston bred diva demonstrated a natural talent for the performing arts, excelling at a variety of dance idiosyncrasies. Constance is a mistress of musical talents spanning genres from R&B, soul, and hip-hop; to pop, rock, jazz, and funk. Although she plays a litany of instruments, her first love is the piano. The name Constance means “Steadfast”, which resonates in her commitment to making timeless, ageless music. Her purpose is to make meaningful music. Constance is active in the church and community, and supportive of the arts, health and wellness. Her mantra is “Arts for the mind, health and wellness for the body, and church for the soul.” Personal influences include her grandparents, who were instrumental in her rearing. Her artistic talents blossomed in loving support of her mother and father. Their blend of creativity and discipline gave her the freedom and balance she needed to launch an entertainment career. Constance admires the artistry of Michael Jackson for his well-rounded abilities as an entertainer, Prince for his musical mastery, Tina Turner for the timelessness and quality of her performance, and Drake for his cross over abilities as well as his rap. At present, Constance is in the studio, writing, composing, and recording her debut CD, expected to launch in 2010. This multi-talented singer-songwriter, with a flair for theatrics, brought down the house with her interpretation of the vivacious Sparkle Williams in Houston Ensemble Theater’s production of “Sparkle: The Musical.” Constance also appeared as Queen Glinda in Houston Ensemble Theater’s production of “The Wiz.” She received formal theater training and education at the University of Houston under the direction of Dr. Tom Lyttle, Prof. Marybelle Chaney, and the Alley Theatre’s David Rainey. When I stand before God, at the end of my life, I would hope to not have a single bit of talent left and could say ‘I used everything you gave me.’”
