These boys do not perform your typical “singer/songwriter” acoustic music. They combine Hard strummed Funk and reggae with raw blues and rock all with grooves you can move to despite the lack of instruments. But don't worry. They have a soft side too. The Coates Duo has a huge repitior, genre's for everyone and plenty of great guest musicians who always bring something to the venue's table. The stage always has something new. No matter how old, how young, your size, shape, color or hairstyle, you'll always have fun at the show. This is not your typical background acoustic music so enjoy and take home a good feeling. About the Musicians Colt Coates (from Cure my Enemy) - Colt Coates is a 19 year old singer/songwriter from Patrick County Virginia ranging his style from the honesty of blues, gritty/skanky funk and reggae, and laid back mellow strums with easy vocals all the way to the raw power of rock all played on an acoustic guitar backed up on electric by his brother, Mason Coates. Colt has been with many bands such as C.C. Coates Band, The Joyful Noise, Cure My Enemy, and Divide and has played all around the Southern VA/Northern NC Area as well as areas in Myrtle Beach SC. Some main highlighted Venues he's playes regularly are Floyd Fest, The Star Theatre, The Rives Theatre, Front Porch Fest and many many more. He has been on Stage over 1000 times and has fans and audiences of every type and age. He has also shared the stage with bands and hometown heroes including: The Wildlife, Alliens, Poverty Level, Of Glass and Marrow, The Materia Project, Montana Young, Hope Hop and more... Mason Coates - Mason Coates is a 17 year old guitarist and despite his age, has the amazing ability to captivate an audience with his instrument throwing out quick-witted compositions of solos and weird but elegant/funky sounds. Also originating from patrick county VA, he has played guitar for bands including Cure my Enemy, C.C. Coates Band, and currently for Colt Coates. He has also been on stage over 1000 times.
