In the early 90’s a young aspiring artist, songwriter and producer named Carlos Huey moved to Houston, Texas to pursue a professional career in music. Not long after he arrived, it was through a friend he met Music World Entertainment CEO Matthew Knowles. After a live acapella audition for Knowles, C. Huey signed an exclusive management agreement and began his work as a songwriter and artist for Knowles. After various artist showcases, live performances and studio sessions Carlos’ artistic prowess began to take root impressing every ear that heard the voice. Whether singing or rapping, it was the passion and energy behind the voice that would capture listeners every time. With a desire to take a different direction C. Huey parted ways with Knowles and became the artist known as “Phaz” and signed a solo deal with indie label JamDown Entertainment. This move led to collaborations with now TF Records artist Lil KeKe on various hit songs such as “Bounce and Turn,” “Good Part,” “Do You Wanna Ride,” and many more. After much regional success, authoring a book and even taking a music business hiatus, C. Huey is now working on his next music project tentatively titled Elevate. He lets you know contrary to much of music today, he’s offering creative, mature and relatable pieces of work. “Whether I'm singing or rapping, I want to make music that’s creatively relatable and displays my thoughts and character. I refuse to deceive people like many of these cats today,” Carlos laughs.
