He is truly an International Superstar, always reaching to heights far beyond what the eyes can see. This Megastar has been capturing audiences from around the globe as “…the one to watch”, but this is nothing new to this Jamaican native. Born in Jamaica, Chuca, as known to his friends, excelled in sports, which is where he got his name. Soccer was his sport of choice. He was a local sensation, gaining critical acclaim by the local press and being featured on local TV as the next soccer MVP from Mayday High school in Manchester, JA. However, his love for music was fostered in him at an early age by his grandmother, a native Jamaican church choir leader. At age 11, Chuca’s brother, who was also inspired by their grandmother gave him a microphone and the rest is almost history. Nonetheless, it wasn’t until he arrived in Chicago that his passion started to grow. With influences, such as, Bob Marley, Garnett Silk, and Beres Hammond, as well as, Ice Cube and Ludachris, it was obvious that Chuca had huge shoes to fill. At this point he knew that he was more than just a Reggae artist. The gangster rap of Ice Cube and the flow of Luda had a profound effect on him. Chuca began incorporating elements of his Reggae heritage with his rapping abilities, which allows Chuca's music to have a unique blend of street raps with Caribbean flare and catchy, homegrown hooks. This one-of-a-kind presence eventually led Chuca's music to the ears of chart-topping producer and Streetfloss head, Manford “Manny” Mohr. It wasn’t until he teamed up with the legendary song writer and producer, that he was introduced to a new sound, a sound he could call his own. With style, voice, and rhyme reminiscent of Beenie Man, the 23 old Hip-Hop/Reggae artist also credits Shabba Ranks, Lt. Stitchie, Buju Banton, and Papa San as heavy musical influences. After a string of cult classic hits with 20 Fingers such as “Lick it” ft Gillette and “Short Short Man”, along with his cross over success with Maxamillion’s “Fat Boy”, a Reggae infusion long before Sean Paul hit the US mainstream, and Bermuda native Phoenix Phenom, it was an undeniable union. Now, Chuca has been busy perfecting his own breakout premiere sound with “Dangerous” and “ShakeYa Money Maker” produced solely by Manny Mohr (Streetfloss). At the same time Chuca is maintaining his Caribbean roots by staying true to his culture, but also expanding his style. With Chuca, there’s no doubt that you’re getting the best of both worlds!!!
