18 year old Carter Fox has been entertaining audiences with his music for nearly 3 years now (though he has been performing as part of larger ensembles since age 9). Carter, a contemporary-jazz bassist and native of Lansdale, PA, a suburb of jazz-hub Philadelphia, has been spending numerous years honing his craft of the bass: 9 years of upright bass and 6 years of electric. He has studied with legendary session-player Kjell Benner and legendary bass player Gerald Veasley (who is now a good friend and mentor), as well as lessons with Billy Childs (Britny Fox)Victor Wooten, Brian Bromberg, and Adam Nitti. Carter has recorded 2 indepedently released records (Carter Fox: World Premier Album, 2007; The Funkin' EP, 2008), as well as producing his jazz-standard quartet's, The Carter Fox Quartet, live record “Live at Saxby's”, recorded at Saxby's Coffee House in Lansdale, PA, in November 2007, released on December 9, 2007. He is currently working on his 3rd album (and first full-length) expected to be released in May 2009. He records, produces, and gigs with numerous groups around the Lansdale-area, occasionally playing in Philadelphia, and teaches lessons on the subject he calls “The Music of Bass”. Carter also dabbles in artist mangement. In the summer of 2008, and continuing now, Carter worked with established manager Luther Dowdell, of Dowdell and Associates, who manages artists such as Gerald Veasley and Andrew Neu. He manages local groups as well as his own. The Carter Fox trio is made up of Carter Fox on bass, Adam Sisko on drums, and Matt Leece on guitar. This group began over a year ago when it conisted of Carter Fox and Adam Sisko. Other players were tried out to see if they would be good additions to the group (including guitarist Steve Baker and sax player Jon Milavec). This led to the formation of the Carter Fox Quartet in October 2007. From here, other quartets were formed but Adam and Carter continued to play their style of music in little jam sessions held at Adam Sisko's studio. In September 2008, Carter and Adam began to record tracks for “Suburbia" and while in school, met guitarist Matt Leece. Matt Leece was asked to jam with the group, and the trio was officially formed in December 2008. In February 2009, trumpet-master Paul Feldman joined the group, adding the lead tones that so many great horn-players of the past have done to contemporary group. The future looks bright for these boys from Lansdale.
