It was at age 2 when Canda (born Candace Daryl Clark) started singing along with her grandfather while sitting on top of his upright piano. At an early age, Canda was listening to her father’s collection of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, and Nancy Wilson, as well as the sultry vocals of Sade. These vocalists later influenced Canda’s musical style as she continued to be inspired by Teena Marie, Whitney Houston, Phyllis Hyman, desiring to pursue her musical endeavors with poise and prowess as these women exhibited.

Canda’s vocals are distinct in the current era of soul, a vintage smooth-as-silk tone with the capability to float through her wide range, exuding emotion and delivering rich elongated notes, a technique she developed from having studied voice and taking up the flute. Following her heart and innate abilities, Canda continues to write and perform; sharing loves experiences over dramatic instrumentals and seductive beats. She has won many hearts with her debut soul single “Consider This”, which ranked #41 in the Soul category on Ourstage, and she was also noted Augusts’ NUMBER ONE Soul Artist in Maryland. “Consider This” is a soulful serenade about unconditional love and the yearning to keep it strong. The lyrics expose the hearts and minds of not only women, but men who want to reconcile with their love. Canda shows off her beautiful light, yet soulful touch on a production that soothes, with a nostalgic melody that attracts the doting ear and ignites the loving and loved.

This beautiful chanteuse is also a composer and vocal coach, and continues to work with talented producers both nationally and internationally, as she currently focuses on her solo recording project.
