The kind of peace that affords us the time and the faculties to sort through some of the dusty belongings we have carried with us in our hearts and heads for many long years. With the help of those that love us, we get the chance to realize some of our dreams. Now able to think more clearly and perform an accurate triage on our thoughts, we may actually feel that we are getting somewhere with ourselves. And oh, what a wonderful feeling.
Still and at peace. Able to bury some of the heavy weights deep in the soil outside the heart. Never having to look at those things again. Forgive one's self. Respect one's self. Move on.
I've moved around a lot and the past 10 years of my life have been pretty hectic. I've worked with other very talented people in other bands and groups but I would invariably get an itch and have to hit the road. I think my travels have greatly influenced my writing... style and content.
I have settled down since my younger days and now have a family and a more concrete location in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada. Having a renewed dedication to my art, I am hitting the studio hard with four of the songs from the collection I am calling "The Hatchet". I called it that because the subject matter of a majority of the songs isn't really relevant to where my life is anymore. My music has taken a turn, for the better, I hope. So, I really hope to bury "The Hatchet" on that part of my life.
The first single to watch for is "How Far". If you haven't heard anything from a band called Wayne, now is your chance. I've been told this songs is reminiscent of their stuff. I take that as the highest compliment ever. Rodney is a brilliant composer.
I hope to have the entire album done by the summer of '11 and begin working on my next album. I hope for a licensing or publishing deal. My priority is to get the majority of my life story in music on "tape" as it were, for the benefit of my children. I see it as an inheritance for them. The only thing that I can leave them that is of any real value.
