Straight from the streets of New Haven, CT; where most people might think of the place I call home the suburbs, stood an emerging young soon to be icon. Ever since a young soldier this protégé has always had a love for music. This particular artist began honing his craft at the tender age of six. He came up listening to such hip-hop artists as Run DMC, Audio Two, and many other various artists that the 80’s had to offer. Broadway Dolla was set out to create a style of his own, one that would be recognized by millions. This artist made certain that a lot of time and effort would be put into the music in order to achieve his goal. He attended school and neighborhood talent shows to display his talent in front of live audiences. The response wasn’t always what he had expected but it was the experience that made it all worth it. Motivation and dedication is the key to success. At age fourteen, Broadway Dolla began tracking his voice in a local studio where he cut his first demo. The engineer, Tom Ransom guided him through the whole recording process. Ransom made a few suggestions on how Broadway Dolla should project his voice while in a recording session and performing live on stage. Broadway Dolla became good friends with Ransom, soon after Ransom became Broadway Dolla’s mentor. Ransom also schooled this artist on the ins and outs of the music business and how song writing was only a small percentage of the business. It wasn’t long before Broadway Dolla was performing, and making a name for himself in the local area. He was well known for his distinctive voice and witty metaphors. This artist has opened major artist such as Mobb Deep-1997, Smiff-N-Wessun-1994, and has also performed locally in New Haven, CT area at hip-hop showcases; Toad’s Place-2008-2009, New York City-2004, Bodog Battle of the Bands Showcase in Cambridge Ma-2006. He has also completed a soundtrack for a small film called “April Fools”-2006. Broadway Dolla is a member of ASCAP and BMI publishing.
