Biography

Upon first glance, you don’t really see Britten coming. On the surface, he’s cute; he’s soft-spoken, and, he’s about as nice as they come. Upon first glance, you don’t really see Britten coming. On the surface, he’s cute; he’s soft-spoken, and, he’s about as nice as they come. And, being that he’s from a small town outside of Nashville, when he tells you that he’s a “singer/songwriter”, that doesn’t really surprise you either. But once he takes to the stage, with his smooth vocals and remarkable range, all assumptions are out the door. Since birth, thanks to his father, his down-home country surroundings have been filled with the sounds of some of musics legends like Steve Wonder,James Taylor,Prince and Michael Jackson. As a matter of fact, it was while riding in the car as a child and listening to James Taylor that Britten realized his fate. “Hearing the way those songs were crafted, melodically and lyrically amazed me. His voice transcended any and all questions of validity." Being that Britten comes from a long line of musicians who have never had their vision fully actualized, it was fortunate that his parents did not shy away from his purpose. At 7, he received his first guitar. At 14, he wrote his first song that he still continues to carry to this day. “Not So Ordinary was the first song I seriously wrote. I didn’t know much, but I knew I was tired of hearing people say the same ole’ stuff in the same ole’ way,” he shares. “There are different ways to write a song and i enjoyed the journey of figuring that out" Since, his life has been an interesting journey. At 16, Britten had his first live performance at a local venue (“Let’s just say it taught me the art of improvisation.”). And, at 20, with a solid foundational curriculum in tow, Britten hit the road for the first time. “That was such an incredible time for me. Everything was brand new. The experiences I had helped me come to myself as an artist and the people I had met made me raise the standard that I initially set for myself.” Britten, while in pursuit of his career hopes to become a household name. The women croon over him in a way similar to John Mayer; the fellas respect him in a way similar to Robin Thicke or a Timberlake, and musicians are coming to respect his ever-evolving potential in a way that he hopes will place him in the roster of James Taylor, someday: a songwriter whose words are timeless and a singer whose voice, is true and authentic In December of 2009 Britten released his first record entitled "Six Strings and a Drum Machine" with the help of Grammy-winning producers and personal mentors, Shannon Sanders and Drew Ramsey (“We’re like country cousins”), the chemistry these 3 had stumbled upon was just as undeniable to them as it was to the listener. "It just worked. They knew exactly what i wanted and we just had fun making music" The months to follow Britten was back on the road again. Promoting the "Six Strings" album. Winning the hearts of fans from many regions all over the country. "The Road is my radio for now, so I have to stay on it and bring it every time. I love that kind of pressure. Whats a life without pressure? I was born for that" Another surprise came for Britten in the year 2009. An unexpected collaboration with someone Britten feels is a real leader in true artistry today. Britten had the honor and privilege of having a song cut by John Legend. One that he had penned himself along with his "partners in crime" Drew and Shannon. "I never saw myself writing for other folks, but its a passion for me now. I love it, i just love to create. Its an incredible thing to help guide someone in finding there vision." Thanks to modern-day mentors including Johnny Lang and India.Arie, Britten is setting out to do music that “responsibly says this is me, this is who I am.” Britten now currently resides in the city of angels as he continues to create for himself as well as many others. "I love pop music! and as long as I can create it for myself and others I will. What was once a whisper will soon enough become a scream. I don't even know what that means i just like sounding deep" and in typical goofy "Britten Fashion" its only a matter of time before we hear that whisper.
