The songs on my self-titled album come from an internal place, and, for mainly selfish reasons, I have to put pen to paper. As a young girl, I enjoyed writing poetry and listening to my mother sing and play the guitar. Clearly, music and poetry were tools I used to tap into my creativity.
When I create, I connect emotionally and spiritually with my audience. As a social worker and recording artist, I feel that it is important to address social issues such as prostitution (Lonely Lisa), and issues with addiction (Son), A personal favourite, "Otherness," encourages communication while celebrating life and love!
My music has been played on radio stations across Canada for the past 5 years and I am featured on CBC Radio 3. I have had several live interviews with newspapers and radio. During Kawanis Music Festival week in Newfoundland I was regarded as the local radio stations favourite singer/songwriter.
To date, I have relied on word-of-mouth to market my music. It is an integral part of my being and with plans to release a new album this year, I look forward to pursuing it with all my heart.
Major musical influences include, U2, Sarah Harmer, Keane, Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Tracy Chapman.
