Starting off with guitar, learning sax in school, he made the move to bass when a friend asked him to give it a try since his band couldn't find a bassist. Twenty years later, Bret considers bass his main instrument. Well versed in many kinds of music, from classical to jazz, he focuses his writing skills on modern rock & country. Bret is also an accomplished vocalist, able to sing in a wide range of musical styles. He is comfortable fronting a band or singing backup vocals. His warm baritone has been compared to Steven Stills, Eric Clapton & Travis Meeks. He currently is the bassist for the band Thallium (myspace.com/thalliumrocks). Bret plays G&L, Ibanez & Warwick basses, Gibson, Westone & Ovation guitars, & Roland keyboards. He uses Ampeg, GK & Marshall amps with Hartke & Marshall cabinets.
