About Brad Kinder

Portrait of Brad Kinder

Blues, Jazz and Funk Guitar

Born in Richmond, Virginia, Brad first started playing guitar at age 14. It was not the guitar players of that era (80’s) that inspired him. It was the records of BB King, Ray Charles, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Allman Bros, Steely Dan and Stevie Ray Vaughan that got his attention. Later, it would be jazz greats like Charlie Parker and Grant Green that would provide even more inspiration. He has played the Richmond music scene for over 17yrs and has been a founding member in several popular, local bands.

In ’07, Brad won Guitar Center’s “King of the Blues – Road to the Finals” contest. A national blues guitar competition where song entries were judged by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Pete Anderson (producer,Dwight Yoakam), Bruce Iglauer (Alligator records) and Jack Sonni (Dire Straits).
