Bobby Wills www.itunes.com/bobbywills Calgary Based singer songwriter Bobby Wills new Single “My Memory ain’t what it used to be” is set to be released to radio across Canada on September 13th. So who is Bobby Wills??? Born in Edmonton and Adopted by Parents in Calgary Bobby’s story is not your standard “always knew I was gonna sing”- story “When I was a kid, music was not a part of my life in a tangible way. My father listened to Country music at home but that was about the extent of our participation as a family. I loved Music from an early age, it was something I was very drawn to but unfortunately that passion was something I was far to shy to share”. It wasn’t until a trip to Australia that Bobby started to get the idea that he should be pursuing Music. “We were in a little town called Byron Bay, and they had this Jam session happening. A friend who I had confessed my desire to sing too, bet me $20.00 that I wouldn’t get up with the band… I did. I sang the Dance by Garth Brooks … the reaction and feeling was unbelievable and the fire was officially lit.” When Bobby got home to Canada 12 months later, he shocked his parents. “When I left I was a kid who really had no direction … I came home with a guitar and an ambition”. Bobby’s parents were supportive but skeptical. “They really wanted me to pursue school and a career, Music was a hobby, not a career. “ For the next six months Bobby looked for any opportunity to get involved with Music. “ I started writing and singing at open mics… but like most kids starting out it seemed like the impossible dream… I began to believe my parents were right.” Then a call came in that would change everything forever, and finally convince Bobby to follow his heart. “I had put my name on an adoption registry that matches parents up with adopted children a few years earlier and actually forgotten all about it.” The call was to inform him that his birth Mother had registered and wanted to meet him. “the next few weeks were a whirlwind. “ Bobby went from being the youngest child in his family to being the Big brother of 5 other siblings, and discovered a very common thread…….. MUSIC. “All of my siblings are very musical. It was a very surreal thing for me. I had finally met people who shared my love and talent for music.” “When I met my Father it became very apparent to me Music was what I was meant to do.” Bobby’s father could talk for hours on end about Music. “we stayed up all night sometimes listening to old records and discussing the lyrics and how powerful Music was.” Bobby’s younger brothers on his Fathers side were both very involved in music. The oldest was the front-man in a College rock band and the youngest a flat out prodigy… “The first time I heard Jesse play the Sax, I knew it was in me and that I had to pursue it period.” The rest as they say is history!!! Bobby spent the next couple years touring the club circuit across Canada. “It was college for me” says Bobby with no hint of sarcasm. For the Last 5 years Bobby has been travelling back and forth from Toronto and Nashville, Making friends in the songwriting community and working on the creative side of the equation. The culmination of this effort is the debut album “Man with no past”. On September 13th the new single “My memory ain’t what it used to be” will be released to radio nation wide. “The song came to us through a friend who had co-written it. I knew right away we had to cut it.” Bobby may not have found music the conventional way, but after listening to the album, we’re sure glad Music found him.
