Ian England and Johnny F met in Los Angeles in September 2006 with the main aim of introducing Californian punks to long forgotten, and even rarely played, Old School English Street Punk.
Johnny got on the blower and secured the services of his drummer mate ‘TwoTone’ Ringo, and a little later Ian bumped into Skid Mark at a UK Subs gig. After the first rehearsal ‘Blunt’ were born.
In January 2007 a mini-tour of California and Nevada was played along with The Negatives from Bradford UK and The Objex from Las Vegas, as well as some other local Los Angeles bands including Ryan Mudd and The Stuff.
Blunts first live performance was at the Fat Liver Tavern in Lomita CA.
Other venues played were in Downtown Los Angeles at The Airliner and The Cocaine, along with The Scene in Glendale, Java Jo’z in Murrieta, The Brokeass Cantina (twice) and Khourys in Long Beach, and Las Vegas’s famous Double Down Saloon.
In 2008 Skid found it increasingly difficult to find time to play with the band due to work committments. Therefore the last gig for the original line-up was at the famous Anarchy Library in Downey, California.
Skid’s replacement was ‘The Mad Brit’, and rehearsals started again for shows at Fern’s in Long Beach, Suzy’s in Hermosa Beach, and The Doll Hut in Anaheim.
Shortly after the gig at The Doll Hut founder member and frontman Ian England decided to returned to the UK in January 2009.
Armed with loads of new material and forming new band ‘Blunt UK’, Ian is looking for new band members to join him. If you are interested please feel free to get intouch.
