About Bloke

Tel Aviv, Israel

Bloke is the recording name of Israeli electronic music artist Yaniv Navot.

Born in the Israeli wilderness near a deserted secret military facility, Bloke began playing keyboards and guitar during the early 90’s. During this period, Bloke had been recording on his own using simple sequencing software.

Bloke’s debut EP, “Music for Electric Lobe” (12’’), was released on the Berlin based independent label, Digital Kranky (August 2002). Shortly after, further, more experimental works, were released on various boutique labels around Europe and the USA, such as Estrunax Records, Kraked A.I, 2PlayerMusic and Binkcrsh.

In 2004, Bloke established, together with Eliad Wagner (AKA: Stuchka Vkarmanye), the label ±G6PD Records as their own independent label, in order to allow exposure to innovative ideas in electronic music and similar minds. Later that year, Bloke’s first official full length highly energetic album, “Experiments in Aesthetics”, was released on the home label ±G6PD Records. The album discusses the nature and aesthetics of electronic music (Glitch, IDM and freestyle electronica), presenting a hourney of a lucid electronic music dream.

In 2005 Bloke released a second full-length album, this time it’s a re-issue old production by Navot, simply titled “Sennin Taoist Immortal”. In 2006, following a successful 3-track download single (that was later sold exclusively on Warp’s Bleep.com), Bloke’s third official full length album, “Tears of The Broken Warrior”, was co-released on Machine Records and ±G6PD Records. It’s a concept album involving a story of a broken warrior trapped in a surreal world. This time, Bloke is focusing on mixing experimental electronic music with broken drum n’ bass beats.

In the last few years Bloke has been performing (Live and DJ) all over Europe, the UK and Israel. His music was played on Radio 1, by the late John Peel and on various Radio stations such as London’s first radio art station Resonance 104.4FM, The Selector and Another Nice Mess. He is considered to be a unique and exceptional phenomena in the Israeli electronic music scene and is highly regarded for his high skills in handling super-fast beats as well as his complex and brilliant compositions and productions.
