BIRCH RILEY was originally a hard rock four piece band based in NW Washington State. The band released an independent CD called "Scattered" and toured the U.S. in 2002. The band hit the road as a three piece after Shawn Thompson (bass) dropped out to attend college. The remaining trio featured Wes Hlebichuk (guitar / lead vox), Rick Sloot (drums) and Paul Carrico (bass, keys, bg vox). Most recently Phil Calvert has come aboard for the 2011 gig season. Calvert, a bass, guitar and sometimes keyboard player, allows the band to bring an expanded sound to the stage and a truer sense of the original materiel the band tends to record.
