AWAKENING WILL OPEN FANS EYES AND EARS
Los Angeles, CA
Mark Barnes, the BaD BoY oF ChilL OuT, is set to open your third eye musically speaking. The titular track off his upcoming release The Awakening will fulfill the promise of the title, as will the rest of the CD. Barnes ambient electronica is a refreshing rush of chillout goodness, opening up amazing soundscapes that connect the ears and the minds eye with lush melodies and organic wholeness often missing from the electronic realm.
Awakening is a key based and deeply moving track. Its keyboard line and the overwhelming beauty of its background river of ambient melody make a sky full of clouds in the human heart. It equally embraces classic piano music flavors and cutting edge new age glory. Elegant and absorbing, Awakening is a sure-fire hit for the chillout scene.
Barnes music has been featured in a number of magazines and web sites, including EmmeK New Age and New Sounds Magazine (Dec. 2007) and AMMA AnR (Aug. 2007). He was a top 20 finalist in the instrumental category for the 11th annual edition of Unisongs International Songwriting Contest. Barnes was the featured artist for October 2007 on the Pulse of the Planet radio program. Three songs from The Awakening are reviewed in the Jan. 3 edition of Music Connection Magazine.
Barnes music is regularly played on Mystic Age Radio, Mystic Soundscapes Internet Radio, 93.7 WGYL FM in Florida, the Cygnus Radio program and I-Tunes New Age Internet Radio Station. His songs have been selected for several compilation CDs.
The artist is busy working on new music at the moment, as well as re-mixes of other artist’s electronic works. One of 2008 - 2009’s planned projects is a Christmas CD by Barnes. He is also in the process of researching digital animation and live action video to couple with his music. “The goal is to combine the two for a live stage performance similar to the ‘Mind’s Eye’ video series and Animusic video,” he explains. He records in his home studio using a 48-track HiMAT with high-quality output.
Barnes is under management with Sher LeFever and Confederate Starz Artist Manager, a leading independent artist management firm, based out of Mesa, Arizona. Additionally, Barnes is a member of the Hollywood, CA Chamber of Commerce; an Associate Member of The Recording Academy (LA Chapter); and was a performer as well as the recipient of the Hollywood F.A.M.E. Award for Music & Cinema for the 18th Annual Los Angeles Music Awards, which was held at The Music Box @ Fonda, November 20th, 2008.

I am so proud and excited to announce that my latest CD The Awakening is officially available on CD Baby, ITunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and other web sites starting today.
This has been a labor of love and I have so many people to thank for this wonderful project, I don't even know where to begin. But Thank you to everyone out there who made this possible. The music was re-mastered by Rainbo Records in LA and they did a fab job. Stacey Austin and her beautiful The Awakeing Painting was a work of art so fitting of this CD cover and the way the digi pack and included poster came out was great. Fred my co-producer for his tireless help, my wonderful family who supported me ever bit of the way and Big Al Bowman & Suzanne Griffie who showed me so many possibilities for the future, thank you to you all.
Thanks again and everyone be sure to pick up your copy of The Awakening at CD Baby today.

Music & Poetry!
Loe, Peace, Faith, Hope,
I have been playing the Piano since the age of 3 and was always a terror to my piano teachers, never wanting to play the lesson but always wanting to feel the music instead and play what was inside my head. When I was 12, my mother finally signed my sister and myself up for Guitar lessons. Although I had no interest in playing the guitar and did not feel this would be of any benefit, the instructor worked with us for 6 months. He was teaching us guitar chords, my sister the guitar and for me, the relationship of the guitar and their chords to the piano. It was great and I credit him with helping me to understand how to play out my emotions and feelings.
I guess I composed my first Ballad at age 15 for my father. It was funny as he always called me "The professor". I always thought that would somehow become my nickname, but my friends were always calling me “Barnsey”, and that’s what stuck. I love to travel extensively and find the most relaxing vacation to be a cruise. I really enjoy working with other musicians and find that its helps create a very emotional edge about my music. It is the one venue in which I can truly express all of my tears, fears, laughter and love for all of those around me. I feel “Music is the window to the soul. Put your negative emotions into being creative and never take them out on another human being.”
I was always the realist when I was younger. I wanted to enter the music field but never felt the right timing then and thought that in such a competitive field and with all of these other wonderful musicians out there that I would never stand a chance. So thus, I went into financial business for myself and have ran numerous successful mortgage banking and mortgage lending firms for the last 24 years, moving to Florida in the process. I continued to compose and play new music for the people who mattered most in my life, which was my family & my friends.
Funny how times change and the Internet was probably the biggest catalyst in that change for the music industry. It has brought us so much closer and has given us all a real gift. I must say setting up my MySpace personal and music page, was the most positive experience of my musical life. It has allowed me to meet some very wonderful and talented musicians, singers and artists of all walks of life and share our talents with each other and the public (our fans). It has inspired me to realize that it does not matter how old you are or where you are in life, good music and the arts should play an important role in everyone's existence. I have new found inspirations since my mom’s passing, and the emotional well just keeps pouring out new songs weekly. That combined with all of the new people I have met, been exposed to and inspired by, have allowed me to open myself to listening and composing all types and styles of music.
Out of this entire experience and most of all, I look forward to continue composing and writing new music and playing them….just for you!
