Starting out as just a few high school friends having a little fun on the weekends with impromptu jams, Backhand English has evolved into an astonishingly eclectic band with a seasoned chemistry and a dynamic approach to their craft. Headed by the talented songwriting tandem of Jordan Smith and Matt Regner, Backhand English has become rather difficult to classify. From raw folk tunes like “Make It On My Own” to the groovy vibe of “All I’ll Ever Need” to searing live blues rock drifting towards progressive, their music transcends any conventional genre. Smith and Regner, each possessing their own distinctive guitar style, display a tight, unspoken chemistry while adding their own unique flair to every song. All the while, their music is driven by the powerful and skilled drumming of Collin Murray. With his own diverse musical upbringing, Murray adds an element of technical ingenuity to an already gifted band. The three have developed a sound all their own. And like any great three piece band, they have found a way to bring their full sound to the stage.
