A few years ago God showed me how ridiculous I was being and saved me by grace through faith. It didn’t give me magical powers but it melted my heart of stone. I now live in seasons of repentance from my pride and idolatry and celebration of the joy that comes with freedom in Christ. The songs I write are usually a snapshot of this epic story. Additionally, He made me fall in love with “the least of these” and I want justice to prevail for the “widow and the orphan”. I hope to encourage believers to examine their hearts towards God and His people through the songs I write. The sound of my music, encouraged by my band “Ashley Gatta & The Free People” is Organic Motown and can be described as a cross between Norah Jones and Aretha Franklin. Lyrically, I may step on some toes, and sometimes end up putting my foot in my mouth (lots of foot analogies here) but I do my best to be transparent and kingdom-minded with what I have to say. My projects include the 2007 EP, Forget Subtlety, featuring TexasCSA’s 2009 Song of the Year, Ain’t Nobody. In the spring of this year, I released my first full length album, Where the Humble Go.
