Based out of Concord CA., Aqua Zombie was formed back in 2008 by two seasoned veterans of the San Francisco Bay Area music scene. With influences ranging from Johnny Cash to Led Zeppelin and The Doobie Bros. to Kenny Chesney they have created a unique tapestry of styles and sound whose genre knows no boundries. Lyrically speaking these guys are not swimming on the shallow end of the pool when it comes to content and substance. With a cool blend of folk, classic rock, reggae and a little country their music paints a portrait of love, redemption, family and the lighter side of chaos and impending doom with a touch of subtle humor. Their independent debut release titled "Love Tank", now available at www.cdbaby.com/cd/aquazombieband , iTunes, Amazon, Napster and other major digital retailers is sure to become one of the "classics" in your collection. Catchy songs like "Harshin' My Mellow" and "Love My Vegas Baby" will leave you feelin' good and humming the melodies throughout your day. "Nothin' But Lovin'" provides a thick heavy riff that just may be the next "Whole Lotta Love". Multi-instrumentalist Brian Wilson a.k.a. Ricky Rodeo, has played throughout the Bay Area in bands such as Cerberus, The Lonely Now, The Plain Janes, Bay Area Blues Society Orchestra, Blues legend Cool Papa and 50's classic artist Bobby Day. Brian has also worked in theater with the Diablo Light Opera Co. as orchestra drummer and was a church music leader for three years. “I told my wife years ago before we got married that she was marrying a musician and that I will always be involved in music one way or another for the rest of my life.” Ty Phinney a.k.a Charlie Gristle has played in bands such as Wings To Zion, My Waking Soul and is currently the lead guitarist for thriving Bay Area band Exit Eden. He has also worked on numerous solo projects with other local musicians. It has been said that Ty is a very talented songwriter/composer and has been quoted as a "modern day Pete Townsend". Performing isn't his only passion though, he is also a skilled sound technician and works behind the scenes running the sound board for a local church. Aqua Zombies simplistic and unorthodox approach to writing and recording is a breath of fresh air and a thorn in the side to the polished and perfect Pro-Tools generation. Their music is raw, dynamic and uncut giving off a vintage vibe paying tribute the bands they grew up listening to. To quote drumming legend Bill Bruford, " Life and music are all dirty and imperfect, and so will a living breathing performance also be dirty and imperfect. Pro-Tooling can only offer an antiseptic sort of cleanliness or perfection, which is not always required." Aqua Zombie are currently involved in rehearsals for up coming performances and have begun work on their sophomore release.
