Anthony Hughes is a Sydney based singer songwriter. He crosses the divide of being serious and intense whilst keeping it fun and entertaining. Anthony Hughes is a Sydney based singer songwriter. He crosses the divide of being serious and intense whilst keeping it fun and entertaining. This diversity has been likened to acts such as Lilly Allen, Newton Faulkner and The Whitlam’s yet with a dark witty sense of humour like Dennis Leary. Anthony Hughes has been captivating audience across Sydney. At the end of 2009 he won the Prestigious Piano Room Songwriters Competition which saw him recording in the Iconic Studio 301. In 2008 he was nominated for Singer Songwriter of the year for the Music Oz Awards and finalist in the stage to studio competition. In 2009 he spent much time in studios with producers such as Anthony Field (Radio Ink), Sean Carey (Thirsty Merc (Warner)) and Ben Holman Richards IV (Porcelain (Universal)). When he wasn’t in the studio he was busy gigging and supported some big guns including Diesel, Jack Jones, Doug McLoud, Matt Corby. Anthony recently released his first EP. Shortly thereafter he embarked on his first international tour to the USA playing shows at the Viper Room and Austin to play a host of gigs and showcases at SXSW.
