My name is Andrew Mahony, I am 15 years old. I live in a small country town. I have been performing since I was 5 years old. The acoustic Guitar, Lead Guitar, Drums, Banjo, Bass Guitar and mandolin are the instruments I can play. I also sing. My brother, Matthew, performs with me. Matthew is 13 years old. He's been performing with me since he was 7 years old. Matthew plays the bass guitar and does the backing vocals. I have written many songs so far. The most recent song's I’ve written are 'Chipping Away', 'Best Things in Life', ‘Baby’ and ‘My Name Is’. ‘My name is’ is about two homeless kids living on the streets and what they are faced with; the day to day battle to survive. Matthew and I were recently on the television show “Australia’s Got Talent” and were successful enough to get through to the Semi Finals, which is the top 40. We didn’t get quite enough rural votes to go into the Grand Final, but the experience was fantastic and something we will never forget. I have performed at many music festivals, clubs, fundraisers, Weddings, Show’s, B&S’s, etc. But the biggest gig that I have done was about three years ago when I performed at Lee Kernaghan’s ‘Spirit of the Bush Drought Relief Concert’, where I performed in front of about 10,000 people. I have been lucky enough to have performed on stage with Troy Cassar-Daley three times in front of approximately 3000 people and have also jammed with Troy a few times back stage. Troy has stayed at home a few times. We got to know him pretty good. Troy helped get me the guitar I play today. I have also been lucky enough to have performed with Adam Harvey twice at the Whittlesea Country Music Festival. About three years ago Adam Brand asked me to open his concert, which was a fantastic experience. I got to talk with Adam backstage for about an hour; he taught me all about stage craft and stage equipment. I have written a song about the Deni Ute Muster and about three years ago was lucky enough to perform it at the Deni Ute Muster. Last year at St Arnaud I entered the Telstra Road to Tamworth Competition and was one of the Top 3 in that heat which got me on the Country Music Channel. After the experience of performing at the Lake Bolac B&S, I wrote a song called ‘The B&S Ball’. The Lake Bolac B&S was great; I have performed there for the past 4 years. ‘The B&S Ball’ song was a finalist in last year’s Tamworth Songwriters Association Competition. I have done quite a few radio interviews on ABC and on Community radio stations in Victoria and New South Wales. When I was on Australia's got talent; Newspapers and radio stations from around the country interviewed me and wrote articles about me like the Weekly Times (they wrote a full page about me). Marcie Jones has been our singing teacher for the last three years; she has improved my singing so much. Marcie has also helped me with my stage craft and presentation. Marcie was the person who said to us to give Australia’s Got Talent a go. Marcie Jones was huge back in the 60’s, with her group ‘Marcie and The Cookies. I'm in the process of recording an album at the moment, which should hopefully be complete in a couple of months. I have appreciated all the opportunities I have had. But I don’t want to stop here! I hope to one day to be Australia‘s Top Selling Recording Artist. I try and take every opportunity I can get.
