Al Zuhri Davon Lahmaar “ I should not be bound any one genre, when I am to crossover with ease” Al Zuhri Davon Lahmaar is a Crossover R&B artist hailing from Buffalo ny. Zuhri’s style of singing is highly influenced by jazz, Arab chanting, Soul and Pop. Traces of traditional west African music can also be heard though his trills and riffs as he sings. Being a counter tenor Zuhri is able to sing in a wide rage of voice octaves and posses an extremely distinguished and powerful falsetto. Unlike Most people Zuhri does not like to sing just one genre of music. He very willingly and readily sing to different styles of music ranging from Soul to techno. “I said that I was a singer I never said what type”-Zuhri D Lahmaar. Possessing a truly unique voice Zuhri is able to appeal to Both Black and Caucasian crowd. He has even been thought to be Caucasian himself as he sings because his race isn’t perceivable by his style of singing. Singing since the age of nine years old Zuhri has had the opportunity to perform at a wide range of venues. Zuhri Has performed at Buffalo Dun tire stadium were he is known for his exciting crowd moving and up beat performances. His list of prefaces include Spot café ,buffalo Junteenth the third largest in the country, Suny television networks B-spot and Even Bet’s Apollo night at buffalo state college. Zuhri has auditioned for Many reality television show including American idol seasons 4, 5, and 7 and America’s got talent. Zuhri Has also performed for four years In the Nationally known Debbie Bello vocal studio’s Under the Name Davon and was lucky enough to be in TV Guide about his experience from his travels and performances with them. Zuhri Currently performs as Sound lock productions- an independent group of unsigned performers active Crossover artist for advancement in R&B music. Zuhri Has Had the opportunity to write Songs for even a celebrity artist John Stevens who placed the top 12 in American Idol Season 3. Zuhri is also the winner and first winner of Kim Burse’s(creative director of Beyonce Knowles) 311 music talent showcase. He has also had rare opportunity to write a lyrics and melody project to be used for the ABC Grammy ward winning show 30 rock with Tina Fey.
