Biography

Music has not seen such a dire need to be a motivational vehicle for change since perhaps the Vietnam War, the conquest of fascism, the Great Depression. In a country in turmoil and everything seeming to sway in a backwards motion, it's only fitting to read the name in reverse. Music has not seen such a dire need to be a motivational vehicle for change since perhaps the Vietnam War, the conquest of fascism, the Great Depression. In a country in turmoil and everything seeming to sway in a backwards motion, it's only fitting to read the name in reverse. Since when has such a simple event as going to a show been such an escape from all the chaos and fears we face during the daylight hours? It may very well be possible to bring these ideas back to life, to resurrect the soul that has only been present in such demanding and trying times. Are these not demanding and trying times? A band forged in friendship, Acirema (America in reverse) has consistently written and played heart-twisting, gut-wrenching metal since its conception in early 2003. This dedicated quintet currently residing in Wilmington, NC (originally based in Greenville, NC) has begun to achieve the attention of their Wilmington counterparts, He Is Legend, The Hottness, and Thunderlip to name a select few. Acirema has played numerous shows and festivals across the eastern seaboard. Acirema is currently making plans to record the follow-up to "With Deepest Regrets," which was recorded by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, Glass Casket, Beloved, etc.) and released in August of 2005. The material planned for recording is Acirema's strongest material to date, showcasing an adept ability of songwriting and heartfelt, melodic intensity perhaps unrivaled throughout the east coast. The band plans to record with Jamie for their next effort after the success displayed in "With Deepest Regrets." Drummer Landon Dixon and guitarist Terry Gray formed Acirema in April of 2003 after the demise of their respective projects. Guitarist Sonny Camarro, lead vocalist David Manning, and bassman Joel Vanderbilt round out the Acirema army. The members have been influenced by the talents of many famous bands comprising many different genres, but bands such as Meshuggah, Darkest Hour, Pantera, Slayer, and Between The Buried And Me have pushed the members to strengthen themselves artistically and strive to become better writers and performers. The Acirema sound is comparable to artists such as At The Gates, Between The Buried And Me, Misery Signals, and Unearth. In June and August of 2005 Acirema was able to put two winning Battle of the Bands titles under their belt, evidence of their ever-apparent artistic evolution. The wins, both resulting in cash prizes, have given the members a feeling of validation and assured them the hard work is well worth it. Acirema is working stringently to promote and sell the few remaining copies of "With Deepest Regrets" while taking the time to write new material and rebound after a few member changes. They desire to make their music available to the masses, but above all else they want audiences to share the music that is a part of their lives, a part of their dreams, and all of their hearts.
