Biography

LetterstotheDevil began in 1998 as a one woman project. After playing guitar in several bands I could never find the right people to work with. I eventually gave up searching and found a way to create music on my own. Using a computer I discovered midi and programming. I also wanted to be free to create something unique where there is no limit on sound or style. I learned how to program drums, synths, mix and arrange guitars and bass all through trial and error. In 1999 I broke plenty speakers in my sound experiments and plenty of song mixes. Some turned out good others not so good. I see music not only as an art but one long constant experiment of self expression where there is always room for improvements. Adding guitar and bass into the mix I decided I did not want to loop it. Instead play it live and during recording play it straight through. There is no punching in or going back to fix a mistake. Synths are also recorded the same way. It may take longer to record this way but I feel if I can not play it straight through then I should not be playing a particular way or part. Instead changes need to be made in the chord progression or choice of keys. I love what I do and it is all or nothing. In 2008 Scott Moricle joined the project finally giving LttD a voice. His lyrics are very dark and cryptic which makes one think about the words. He presented a new challenge of writing music. John Johnson joined the project in 2010 lending his vocals to songs our friend Jordan Chaleil sang on. Scott and John keep the project busy and both vocalist allow a huge range of new song ideas to emerge. They both keep me very busy and it is always a new challenge to write music for them. The Devil's work is never done. Vocals - Scott Moricle Vocals - John Johnson Guitars, Bass, Synths, Programming - Kerrin Johansen Guest Vocals on BTK (Bound to You), Don't Need You, Aftermath, An End - Jordan Chaleil from Testudo  Break Me Remixed by Lindsey LeBlanc from GVE
