Maybe Then has the theme of someone who, due to their self image tainted by a lack of love and acceptance has fallen into self destructive patterns and who might have a real chance at a great life but for the sadness and emptiness that has led this person astray. This song turns somewhere in the middle to a borderline acceptance and possible reinvention of this haunted soul and maybe even the formation of self love.
