Lyrics
Pappy’s prayer (Lord. All I ask) chorus Pappy taught us ALL how to live off the land Taught us how to plant our roots, & how to take a stand Every night, in prayer, he’d slowly bow his head Lord, all I ask = is keep my family fed! Pappy worked the garden We ALL helped in the spring Then, he worked the tobacco Figurin’ what it’d bring Bushels full of vegetables We’d all hear Grandma say Thank you, Lord - for all this food & for another day! Chorus Pappy made cider From apples that he’d grow Then, sold the tobacco Right before it’d snow We’d have cider there to drink The whole family would be fed From the food that Grandma canned & kept under her bed! ! Chorus (C) 2/20/09 Ray Withrow/No Creek Music (ASCAP)
