Description

I wrote this song for my 15 year old daughter Freddi Rose. She is my precious daughter with so many great qualities, yet like other teens she can't see all of these attributes and gets down on herself. This is my first songwriting/singing experience. I actually contemplated sending this song to Keith because his daughter shares the same middle name (Rose) as my daughter and I thought he may be interested in covering it.

Lyrics

Little Rose Blues (words and music by John Marsillo) © Copyright 2010 All Rights Reserved She came into this world in an April shower A sweet little rose, a delicate flower Angel baby, you were born that night You brightened our hearts and gave us your light Walkin’and talkin’ and all the firsts, Little friends and birthdays, bruised knees that hurt Spring grew to summer and those rose buds burst, And out flowed the music to quench that little’s girl’s thirst She’s got a ballerina’s style and eyes so wide, Her heart’s so big and she makes me smile Always chasing footsteps of some other’s shoes, If she could only see what we see, she’d forget her blues If she could see what we see, she’d forget her blues Growing and climbing up the family tree Dorothy and the Wizard were her company Reading every book that lay around her room That little lady’s petals are about to bloom She’s got a ballerina’s style and eyes so wide, Her heart’s so big and she makes me smile Always tryin’ to dance in someone’s shoes, If she could only feel what we feel, she’d forget her blues If she could feel what we feel, she’d forget her blues Now hold onto miracles as long as you please, Cause sometimes we try but we just can’t succeed You’re not always going to get the fame or the prize, But it’s the ride of your life that makes it all worthwhile Fourteen years and she’s her mother’s daughter, A long time gone from that babe in the water Sometimes the thorns make you sad and forget, That the world loves a rose and you’re the sweetest one yet She’s got a ballerina’s style and eyes so wide, Her heart’s so big and she makes me smile Always chasing footsteps of some other’s shoes, If she could only see what we see, she’d forget her blues If she could see what we see, she’d forget her blues She’s got a ballerina’s style and eyes so wide, Heart’s so big and she makes me smile Always tryin’ to catch up to some other’s shoes, If she could only see what we see, she’d forget her blues If she could see what we see, she’d forget her blues She’s got a ballerina’s style and eyes so wide, Her heart’s so big and she makes me smile Always chasing footsteps of some other’s shoes, If she could only see what we see, she’d forget her blues If she could see what we see, she’d forget her blues Yeah, if she could see what we see, she’d forget her blues
