A dear friend, who was a drummer I played with, died after fighting a long illness. A group of us gathered at his house for a memorial. When I got home and finally felt cried out, I got out the guitar and started playing random chord progressions. In about an hour, the this song had come out. I have found that others have embraced this song because it speaks to them about whomever they are missing.
