Duration

3:45

Genres

Singer/Songwriter (Male)

Description

This is a song I wrote in response to a request for a song to contribute to a 9/11 Memorial album being put together by a radio station. I didn't think I had it in me, because I don't think I'll ever get over what happened that day - living so close to it. But I saw a documentary about a 9/11 widow and her young son, who live in Staten Island and it really moved me. This song is the result. Hope you like it.

Lyrics

The Loneliest Hour Words & Music by Marc Feingold THE CLOCK HANDS EMBRACE ME AS I FALL SAVE ME FROM CRASHING THROUGH THE WALL DID THE MOON UP ABOVE… MAKE NOTE OF OUR LOVE? Ah… WE LOVED LIKE ROMEO & JULIET IN MY HEART YOU’RE NOT GONE IN MY MEMORY YOU LIVE ON AND I SWEAR BY ALL THAT’S HOLY, I WILL NEVER LET THE WORLD FORGET Verse 2: MY LIFE, LIKE A PUZZLE, LINES THE FLOOR THE PIECES CEASE TO FIT ME ANYMORE LIKE A LONELY GRAIN OF SAND IN THE PALM OF GOD’S HAND I’M ADRIFT IN A SEA OF SYMPATHY - DYING TO HANG ON (To the) THE LONELIEST HOUR THE LONELIEST HOUR THE LONELIEST HOUR OF THE NIGHT TIME HAS CEASED & GRAVITY CAN’T HOLD ME DOWN SINCE THE DAY MY WORLD CAME TUMBLING TO THE GROUND Verse 3: THE NEWSPAPERS PILE UP IN THE HALL DID I LOCK THE BACK DOOR? I DON’T RECALL DID THE STARS SHUT THEIR EYES – TO THE DARK SEPTEMBER SKIES? WHO WILL CRY FOR ROMEO & JULIET? THOUGH THAT DAY IS DEAD AND GONE AND A NEW ONE HAS BEGUN I SWEAR BY ALL THAT’S HOLY I WILL NEVER LET THE WORLD FORGET Chorus 2x (Refrain 2x to end) 2003 M. Feingold
