Description
I wrote this for my wife, Linda Ann, for Valentines Day. It is about the inevitable pain that one lifelong partner will experience when the other "slides into the mystery of history" (as the song puts it), and the promise to (if possible) wait on "the other side".
Lyrics
This Kind of Love I don't want it to be you ... but I don't want it to be me But sooner or later one of us is gonna slide into the mystery of history And the one that's left behind ... with tears fallin' like rain Is gonna have to try to learn how to survive The worst of all human pain Black eyes and broken bones will never compare To the pain I'm speaking of But nobody's gonna know that kind of pain until they loose ..... This Kind of Love I don't want it to be you ... but I don't want it to be me But when I hold your hand I feel your soul and I want you to know ... absolutely and certainly If I'm the first to go .. and there's any possibility Then I will find a way, and I'll be waiting for you Just like I know that you would wait for me Black eyes and broken bones ...... Through the years we've heard so many people say Just look at them and you can see that this was meant to be And it's sad to know the whole world through So very few will ever share what you and I do But in the end one heart will have to carry on With all the pain that's left when the other moves on But nobody's gonna know that kind of pain until they loose ..... This Kind of Love
