My wife's grandmother was the epitome of grandmother-ism. When she neared the end of her life, she spent several weeks in ICU on a respirator. One evening, I arrived at the hospital after the rest of the family had gone to the cafeteria for dinner, so I sat alone with her for a while and jotted down this song on the back of an envelope.
