Pinaud's Tonic

This piece is based on true events. I saw a disabled man sitting on a bench outside a local barbershop. It was a very hot day, and I went to a nearby diner to get the man a glass of water. Since the poem was created, the man has lost the use of his other leg, and the barber passed away from diabetic complications. The barbershop has been torn down, but nothing has taken its place.
