I can’t move my feet they’re sticking like glue to the wooden floor burning me and you and you ask me “what why and who?” and I say “Listen baby I’m as confused as you” The bats are laughing in the belfry here sniggering at my simple sorrowful career monkeys at typewriters in dead-end jobs lets give pitchforks and torches to the angry mobs the lions and tigers will eat us too the day that the animals escaped the zoo the vultures hover over the grizzly scene waiting for the moment when someone screams they’ll swoop down on their doomed prey and the zookeeper warns you you hear him say the lions and tigers will eat us too the day that the animals escaped from the zoo The bears and the bulls will tear our bodies to shreds the serpents and spiders sleeping in our beds lets hide ourselves in cages and false habitats let the animals inherit our houses and flats lets see them feed themselves for a day or two they’ll come running back to their wonderful zoo the lions and tigers will eat us too the day that the animals escaped from the zoo The bears and the bulls will tear our bodies to shreds the serpents and spiders sleeping in our beds
