Description
Music therapist Rolando Benenzon observed that even young children react more strongly toward music they already know (in Rick Owen Corbett, 1996, p. 15), and so after eight movements’ worth of unfamiliar songs, I considered it pertinent to end "The Whole Spirit: Redemption Songs" with a popular hymn.
Lyrics
Dear heavenly Father, thank You so much for the gift of music, for the gift of each other, the gift of this life, the gift of this world, and the gift of the life of the world to come. As we continue forward, may this worship not exist in a vacuum; if all of this doesn't lead to our trees bearing better fruit, it all amounts to nothing more than buzzes and clicks and hums. O God, please grant us everything that we need -- the patience, the perseverance, and the joy -- so that we may walk exactly like we talk, and dance exactly like we sing. Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow. Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
