Lyrics

In a traveling circus where i was juggling fire she walked a tightrope without a net out of nothing more than boredom we combined her act and mine which we thought was funny but scared everybody else to death and it was always our intention to let go before we got burned of course we never did cause that's just not how we learn and she said she always imagined we might go out in that fashion but i never cared cause i didn't think that you'd get hurt the clowns had acted out our demise a thousand times to the laughter of the middle-class and their kids but that night the silence was as loud as any drunken, southern crowd when we hit the ground the way we did and it was always our intention to let go before we got burned of course we never did cause that's just not how we learn and she said she always imagined we might go out in that fashion but i never cared cause i didn't think that you'd get hurt we landed in the bleachers between the kids and all the teachers we set the big top on fire scarred a lot of folks scared the animals off with the smoke and you became the victim of my desire and it was always our intention to let go before we got burned of course we never did cause that's just not how we learn and she said she always imagined we might go out in that fashion but i never cared cause i didn't think that you'd get hurt jefferson fox - 2010
