Lyrics

Omaha Nebraska 1943 I walked out to the yard to feed the live-stock it was a typical winter morning in the mid-west. A foot of snow covered the ground like a white blanket I could hear the deer in the woods nearby;pawing at the ground searching for the last blades of grass. Its been three years since my son joined the Marines I was such a proud father because my boy had become a man. I had to raise him by myself...sometimes I knew I was mean; It was for his own good. I hoped someday he could forgive me. Well...the last thing I heard was that he was on a ship in the South Pacific He was heading for a place called Guadalcanal. I had to look at a map just to find out where it was. Something inside told me...it was going to be bad. I was walking back to my house when I felt this pain inside. So sharp it brought me down to my knees it hurt so bad...it took everything I had not to cry. Because I knew my boy was gone... This light came out of nowhere like nothing I have ever seen. So bright I had to close my eyes so I would not go blind. When I opened them again...my son was standing there right in front of me. He was smiling just like I remember...He told me he had come to say good-bye... So daddy don't you cry daddy don't you cry. Angels in Heaven...wait a little while Just let me see my daddy one more time.
