Lyrics

His daddy smiled as he watched him breath in the cool country air. It's been to long since I've seen you son and I'm so glad you're here. There's much I've never told you boy and I don't know where to start. And he drew his breath and began to walk as he opened up his heart. The hours went by and the stories did unfold. It would become the memories of a man he met on White Oak Road. They walked for miles and a sailors yarn he spun along the way. So many names and places and joys and sorrows that he shared with him that day. Son the ports and the bars all come and go your life's like a ship at sea. You'll meet your angel girl and settle down just like it happened to me. Oh he bared his soul with his son that day through the stories that he told. It would become the memory of a man he met on White Oak Road. Now he'd give anything to hold his daddy's hand and to feel his warm embrace. Or to hear his stories once again and to see his sun worn face. He thinks about the day he held that man and it breaks a young man's heart. As he remembers how the angels led him straight to Jesus' arms. He'll never forget the pride he saw in that sailors eyes of blue. And as he looks into his little girls eyes he sees the man she never knew. Yeah the life and the times of a sailor and a dad and the wisdom that would unfold. It became the memory of a man he met on White Oak Road. Yeah the memory of a man he met on White Oak Road.
