Lyrics

“Your days are numbered”, said the old man “Use that mind, and learn to fly away” With that, he waited for an answer But the boy continued reading Sagan Elsewhere, somewhere in a garden A fragile hand laid lines upon a page The words, they flow and sway like a dancer And his mop-haired head cannot contain them So the poet and the scientist set out upon their way Searching for a cure to the world’s ills No one knows quite what it is about them They’re so different Yet just the same The one with moons and suns in his pockets Sets out to redefine the universe He puts one foot outside his doorstep And trips over an untied shoelace And like a picture kept in a locket One heart refuses to be heard The one who writes of love abhors it He’s closed up tighter than his suitcase And so they walked along on different roads Who’d ever think that they would meet? But every path is leading somewhere There’s another street that crosses every street And the poet needs some facts to sooth his bleeding heart The scientist feels love, but doesn’t know what he should say And so they met there in the middle And that’s where they are today
