In this song I was definitely trying to contrast the earnest with the humorous. The verses contain little vignettes of humbling.funny thing that happen to us in life, while the chorus just goes straight to the heart about all of us needing love. You can hear this contrast not only in the lyrics but in the differing rhythms. Then in the bridge I my own personal voice and story shine through, and give a really hopeful image of our ability as people to transform and heal.
