Description
The title of this song is "Autumn Song". I wrote this to my beautiful, multi-talented musician friend Michael Johnson, back in 1974. We played music, harmonized, for the entire day and into the evening. He played flute, sitar, and pedal steel guitar. The words of the song tell it all. God bless you, Michael!
Lyrics
It was an autumn day in the mornin' time; We drank coffee to a song. I would have liked to stay till the midnight chime, But the day was a moment long. I watched the tremblin' leaves come a tumblin' down, Fallin' one by one. I thought on you and me and the autumn sound; Then the season's day was done. (chorus) How I'd like to live that day again, But days must always end. Still it's good to know, as the days do go, That I have you as a friend. As the autumn fell on the silent stream, And whirlin' wheels of time did spin, It was a magic spell how I felt then, Like a wildflower in the wind. (chorus)
