Description
This song evokes nostalgia for friendships that have gone by the wayside - something everyone can relate to. The notion of "ex-best friends" engages the listener and takes him on a not unpleasant emotional roller-coaster ride that spans a longing for the good old days and ultimately has the listener questioning what ever happened to them. The mood is wistful and the beat is mid-to-up-tempo, somewhat in juxtaposition to the subject matter. Kind of happy/sad all at the same time.
Lyrics
Friends come and friends go Sometimes why they're gone you never really know I'll call you, you'll call me Leaves a wide range of possibilities Drop a dime, drop a line Sometimes you wonder when you'll ever find the time Makin' plans and breakin' plans It's all just a part of the dance Chorus: What happened to those ex-best friends The one's you haven't seen since God know's when What happened was their time ran out They're in the lost and found You can find time in the lost and found They don't check out, they fade away One decides to travel, one's got bills to pay We'll catch up, we'll make time I'll see you on the other side (Chorus) A game of chess, the game of life You make your moves but are they ever really right Friends come and friends go Sometimes why they're gone you'll never really know (Chorus & outro)
