Originally this song was about leaving the light on in your heart for somebody even though you may need to go your separate ways for a while. Now I like to think of it as everywhere you go...every person you meet...you decide how you want to leave that other person feeling. So I look at the phrase Leave a Little Light On as leaving people smiling after you've left. Leaving a little bit of your light behind for them to pass on to the next person they interact with.
