Description
I wrote this song after being inspired by a phone conversation with an old friend. The song isn't necessarily about her, but indirectly about St. Louis, the subject of which we spoke. It's a getaway song, but although I had originally intended to write a song about going TO St. Louis, my imagination took over, and it ended up being about leaving St. Louis behind.
Lyrics
A fiery red sky lights up the western horizon line A long western highway reaches out to meet the sun Standing absolutely still About to make your great escape I'm first to notice but I'm not the only one Now you're leaving behind the dreams you ignite and a St. Louis Skyline Searchin for a place to call home Now you're drivin away Movin' faster each day But you can't leave me behind Searchin' for a place to call home Still out on the road With many miles to go The dark western highway rises underneath the stars Just keep on down this road I'm not sure where it goes But someday it'll take you home...very far...
