A Thousand Years

This song is about the internal aging that takes place when you've been waiting for someone for a very long time. For most of the song, I'm an old woman speaking to myself as an old woman. When I wrote it, I was looking out my window in a strange daze waiting for a friend whose soul seemed to die with my youth.
