The Nominees

Featured Artist: The New Up
The New Up’s musical caldron is filled with whirling guitars, psychedelic overtones and the bewitching vocals of front woman, ES Pitcher. Music critic Dennis Cook describes the band as, “… a post-Radiohead group, full of mutated pop hooks, absinthe guitars, smartly wrangled chaos and undisguised beauty and feeling.” The band casts a sonic spell that has entranced fans and critics alike.

Featured Artist: Picture Me Broken
The teenagers bring the noise in Redwood City’s hard rock outfit, Picture Me Broken. The not-so-sweet 15 & 16 year-olds describe their music as a, “… a blend of hardcore with pop vocals to create an onslaught of awesomeness.” PMB cites Flyleaf, Paramore and Scary Kids Scarying kids amongst their influences.

Featured Artist: Oona
Oona is grounded by soulful vocals reminiscent of Joplin and Winehouse yet the band takes flight with their get-up-and-dance rhythms. This musical yin and yang is thanks to founding members Dave Tweedie and the Oona Garthwaite- who co-wrote their debut LP “SHHHHOUT!!”.
