The MTV Video Music Awards is the hottest night in music. This year Comcast and MTV2 recognized local artists with a VMA of their own – The Best Breakout Atlanta Artist Award!

Over 150 artists entered and MTV selected the three nominees below from your top 20 ranked artists to open the VMA concert at Six Flags Over Georgia on August 30th and battle it out in front of an expert panel of judges including headlining acts All Time Low, The White Tie Affair and MTV’s Director of Music & Talent, Tuma Basa.

Holla Front was named this year’s Best Breakout Atlanta Artist and was featured on MTV during the live VMAs locally on Comcast and will be showcased nationally on MTV2!

The Nominees

Featured Artist: Holla Front
South side Atlanta’s Holla Front grew up knowing he wanted to "part of the hip hop culture." Today he is the full package: songwriter, lyricist and performer all rolled into one. Holla Front aims to reach today's youth with songs that speak from his own experiences and spread positive messages to all that will listen.
Featured Artist: Rantings of Eva
Rantings of Eva's goal is clear: to avoid sounding "just like everyone else." If the band’s popularity in the local music scene is any indication- then so far, so good. They boast an allegiance to a "dramatic and sumptuous" sound in their genre-crossing brand of indie rock, pop and alternative rock.
Featured Artist: Tone G
Part of what makes Tone G such a likely star is his out-and-out drive. The self-proclaimed "marketing machine" is dedicated to giving his audience something fresh and honest with a healthy dose of style. His lyrics are bold representations of what happens when the artist combines his Midwestern, West Coast and "Dirty" slang into rhymes.
