About yerkish

Portrait of yerkish
yerkish (yûr-kish) n. - An artificial language using geometric forms to represent words, created for experimental communication between chimpanzees and humans

As their name proclaims, Denver progressive/art rock band yerkish doles out their own form of experimental communication: Intricate composition and profound lyrics commingled with intense on-stage energy and a literal barrage of projected imagery. A live show is riveting, inspirational, and rarely experienced the same way by any two people.

Formed in 2005, this quartet has filled many Denver venues, including: The Gothic Theatre, Herman's Hideaway, The Oriental Theatre, The Toad Tavern, The Falcon, The Walnut Room and The Soiled Dove Underground. The band has shared these stages with popular local and national rock and art rock bands.

Their first EP, vignettes, illustrated the band's ability to sneak undetected into the realms of popular rock, while still maintaining the inventive nature of their craft. When the band became more recognized and appreciated for their edgier, less formulaic music, it seemed only appropriate to record their second EP, The Return of Douglas Jupitor. This sophomore release exhibited the band's ability to take their expansive set of influences and skillfully weave them together.

Despite some growing pains with members having come and gone, yerkish plunges fervently on with three of its original members (Ryan Eschenbach - drums, Nate Huisgen - guitar, Tim Kaminski - vocals) and new bassist, Brent Moran. Incessant and intrepid, yerkish has high expectations for 2008 with great focus on new material and new territory.

how about that cowboy monkey, who changed careers and flew in from Hawaii trying to become part of the Yerkish clan? I thought by now he would be on the receiving end of a Ventriloquist. Oh well banish me for my thoughts. He still thinks you guys are the "G R E A T E S T" and is hoping one day to appear on National TV. Keep up the great work!
