"out of the wreck i rise..."
waiting for iris began as a duo with singer/songwriter, jesi kettering and vocalist, jenna creps. the two spent several years performing together, during which they recorded two albums. wfi’s self-titled debut, produced by mark lee townsend (relient k, evan anthem, deas vail) was released in 2003, followed by their sophomore project, apology, in september 2005. the music videos for songs “so tonite” and “sadistic symphony” are currently airing on the sky angel network. iris also opened for and played on programs with a wide range of nationally known artists including nicole nordeman, newsong, mark schultz, everyday sunday, the wedding, newsboys, point of grace, john reuben, wayne watson, kids in the way, across the sky, staple, joy williams, by the tree, zilch, casting pearls, fred hammond and petra.
in recent months, ‘waiting for iris’ has been stripped to singer/songwriter, jesi kettering’s solo efforts. if you get the chance to catch jesi live, prepare to hear all new material in its most raw and authentic form. currently residing in nashville, she is in the process of writing and recording her third full length album. until then, the new music of ‘waiting for iris’ can be heard at www.myspace.com/waitingforiris and www.myspace.com/jesiacoustic. her songs have been richly defined as an ‘honest and relevant breath of fresh air’. and here is a tiny glimpse of why…
"hi. i am jesi. i write. i sing. i play some instruments. i am finally learning to embrace my quirks...(like fearing the use of capital letters and overusing the ‘dot dot dot’) as i transition from 'band' to 'solo artist.' this process, while both fun and scary, is forcing me to be completely vulnerable...and who doesn't love that?!?! so as i continue to move forward in music, i promise to be transparent about the things i know to be true and the things i am still very unsure of...recognizing that sometimes there is a fine line between the two. so here are a few things i know for sure...i am in a daily struggle to understand what it means to love unconditionally. i know that the absence of such love only leaves room for fear. i know that God is love and i know that to love God is to love people. and that is precisely what i want to do. so "out of the wreck i rise today.” and though that may not sound very impressive, if the music i write gives someone else the hope that they can too, i might beg to differ. i don’t EVER (and yes, i just used capital letters☺) want to miss out on the beauty of that kind of simplicity...”
